Cartridge bearings receive a lot of abuse from wet roads and mud, but a service is quick and easy. Ideally you will remove the bearings first before cleaning, but make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions in doing so. Next degrease the bearings before giving them a thorough rinse. Once they are dry, re-grease the bearings, before fitting them to your bike using a dedicated bearing press.
